Arches National Park (aka Fall 2022 RV Trip page 2)
Wednesday October 26th we visited Arches National Park. |
| I started with a hike to the Delicate Arch. This old lodge was at the beginning of the trail. |
The trail is 1.5 miles long (one-way) and mostly up. |
| It started at about 5000 feet of elevation. The first third was a wide trail but then it turned to walking on rocks. |
The rock got smooth and treacherous at points. |
| Along this stretch I saw a lot of people hugging the rock as there is a cliff on the other side. |
But those that made it to the top got to see this iconic arch. Note the edge is still smooth and slides down a long way. I didn't see anyone fall but I saw one person lose their phone over the edge. |
| We saw many interesting and beautiful rock formations which I will try to show. This one is Delicate Arch. |
This valley has Courthouse Rock and other formations. |
| These are the Three Gossips. |
The Tower of Babel. |
| I don't know the name of this one but I thought it was stunning. |
Balanced Rock is aptly named. |
| North Window. |
Double Arch. |
| Again, I don't know the name of this one but I call it Elephant Arch. |
I don't know the name but it looked to me like a hand about to catch a ball. |
| Pine Tree Arch. |
Skyline Arch. This one had a rock filling the left side of it until about 1950 when it fell out. |
| Turret Arch. |
There is much more beauty there but those are the highlights. |
